Visa Information (Australia)
To study in Australia, you will need to apply for a visa. There are three possible options:
Student Visa
A Student Visa is required if you wish to study for more than 12 weeks. You must be a full-time student, and health insurance (OSHC) is compulsory. This visa allows you to apply for work rights, which, if granted, enable you to be employed for 20 hours a week. (For intending students from some countries, a Pre-visa Assessment is required before a Student Visa can be issued. Also, applicants from most countries are required to undergo a health examination. Enquire at the Australian Embassy for details.)
Tourist Visa
This visa is issued for up to 6 months and allows you to study for a maximum of 12 weeks.
Working Holiday Visa
This visa is available to 18-30 year olds from some countries. It is issued for a year and allows you to study for a maximum of 12 weeks.
For detailed information on visas for Australia, visit the Australian Immigration Department's website.
Upon reception of your form, the school will contact you regarding your application and will later send you a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE).
Apply for your visa from the Australian Embassy or Consulate
If you are applying for a Student Visa, you must take your COE with you to the Australian Embassy or Consulate. Please advise us urgently if there is a change to your proposed course start date.
Homestay and Airport Pickup Services
If you wish to use GV Sydney's Homestay service, you are advised to apply at least 4 weeks before your intended arrival in Australia, to allow us adequate time to find the most suitable accommodation for you. We will aim to confirm your Homestay details (and Airport Pickup if requested) 2 weeks before you arrive in Australia.
